MULTIMEDIA & INFORMATION
WHAT IS MULTIMEDIA AND INFORMATION?
Multimedia is a combination of two or more different types of media. There should be a wise mix of various mass media such as print, audio and video. With the use of computer technology, integration of video, animation, audio, graphics, and test resources take place and are used to develop effective presentations.
REFLECTION:
Why is there a need to understand multi media and information?
Since multimedia and information education encompass all learning styles, this would be the most suitable medium for teaching and learning process.
What do you think is the implications to education of the saturation of multi media and information of the youth of today?
Though this technology open doors to any topic “under the sun” this still has disadvantages that if overlooked, would be a deterrent to the users: both student and teacher. Lack of supervision for children and youth would affect their social, psychomotor skills and coordination. I have elementary students who, rely heavily on video and the net to supplement homeschool. As a result, some wear glasses already and are not so coordinated in play. Some have a hard time getting along with peers. Some are withdrawn or irritable. My older students experience these and more. To an extreme, their virtual world extends to the real world, thus they couldn’t function and seem to be so consumed with the program/ game they’re so occupied / fixated in.
